Near the edge of the forest, spend a little time under the loggia of the Moorish garden, a poetic and disorienting place if ever there was one.
Johnston, who travelled often to faraway places, was brilliant at
gleaning the best from different cultures, and brought back not
only rare plants but also some fabulous birds.
This little courtyard was once part of an enormous aviary, home
to ibis, parrots and African coronet cranes.
