Lawrence Johnston used the
same principles at Serre de la Madone as he had already established
at Hidcote – a succession of enclosed spaces which may be either
little gardens playing on a theme: water, shade, light, colour;
or dedicated to a single plant. Here we see what could be the water
garden with its three pools, the first designed to be a mirror,
and the other two devoted to aquatic plants.
